Honey, dinner is ready. – I can’t. I’ll die.

My fiance has been playing Gears of War 2 on Xbox Live with his brothers in Austin, Texas and Brooklyn, New York.   He has been embedded in our couch for days now… talking through his headset and coordinating sneak attacks on “the bad guys” (I don’t know what they’re called, I’m sure they have a specific name).

Although some women would take offense to this, I actually look upon this as an opportunity to have free time to myself to do whatever I need to do.  It’s kind of nice, in a way.

I love to cook.  One night, as I finished preparing dinner at the end of my business day, I alert him:

“Honey, dinner is ready.”

“In a minute.”

“Honey, let’s eat.” (this is me)

“I can’t leave the game right now!!  I’ll die!!”

I am annoyed, but since I recently came off my Fable II obsession, I actually understand a little bit of this nonsensical response.

@$%$!!!! How I began comparing the benefits of the Zen Owl versus the Dragon.

I hear yelling coming from the living room, over and over, day after day.

One day, I went down there to see Richard with a screen full of colored pegs and some animal figurehead helping him bounce a ball down the screen to eliminate the pegs.

“Why are you yelling and screaming at the TV?”

I don’t think I ever got a really good answer.  But I think it was along the lines of, “I’m playing Peggle.”

Flash forward a few days.

“#$%@%$%$!!”  (Laughter from upstairs, and my fiance descends into the living room.)

“What’s the matter, sweetheart?” (this is him)

“@$%$%$%$!!  I think the Zen Owl is $#%^R%&.  I like the Dragon better.” (this is me)

How did I get sucked into Peggle???
